Instead of terminating the Central Office trunks in a turret, they are arranged for termination on standard key telephones, Type 186 or Type 860 Call Commander®. These key telephones are called Control Stations. By assigning specific Central Office trunks to the control stations and listing the corresponding numbers in the directory, incoming calls are received directly at the control station in the department. The control stations receive and extend incoming calls by means of the transfer feature of the Type 40B and 80A PABX. The 40/ 80 KS combines the features of a 10A2 Key Telephone System with the larger line and trunk capacity of the 40B or 80A PABX , permitting a maximum of 40 or 80 station lines and 10 or 18 Central Office trunks respectively. Standard features include direct outward calling from all nonrestricted telephones. restricted and semirestricted service for local stations, two or three digit intercom service, station control trunk transfer, two-party conference. The 40/80 KS is designed for departmentalized organizations and is ideal for businesses such as department stores, court houses, city halls, etc. where individual departments may be listed in the directory for direct inward calling. Each department has the convenience of its own directory list ing, receives its own incoming calls. and has the advantage of full company-wide dial intercom service.
